Welcome to this site. The University is currently reviewing is Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) strategy and we are keen to involve users, students and staff, in these discussions.  The University currently uses Blackboard as its VLE.  This is the product used most widely across the higher education sector. However, the University’s licence to use Blackboard is due for renewal and therefore it is timely to review future options and the potential benefits of alternative products. This is a significant issue for the University as it could involve substantial changes to current systems. That is why it is important to address these issues now, so that if changes are to be made, these can be done at an appropriate pace. It involves asking some big questions, not least . . .

What do we want to use a VLE for?

This isn’t just a question of doing what we do now, but better – it is also about having a vision of what technology enhanced learning can and should look like at Lincoln in the next 5-10 years.

The purpose of this site is to act as a ‘location’ where students and staff can find out what is happening, but more importantly, offer thoughts and views about the discussions taking place.

The group looking at these issues is led by Professor Howard Stevenson in CERD, and reports to the university’s Teaching & Learning Committee
